How to be ensure you are happy and relaxed on your wedding day.
Preparing for your wedding is a lot of fun, but also a lot of hard work. Here are some important tips to ensure you are happy and relaxed on your wedding day.
When you make a list of things to do, remember to include 'you time' - make it a priority to look after yourself and get plenty of rest to ensure you are happy and relaxed on the day.
Get plenty of sleep
You will want to look healthy and radiant and relaxed on your wedding day, but wouldn't it be wonderful if that glow in your cheeks and sparkle in your eyes was natural and not the work of your makeup artist? The best way to achieve a healthy complexion and keep those red road maps from your eyes (as well as puffy bags and dark circles) is to get lots of sleep (at least eight hours a night) in the month before your wedding day.
This may be difficult, especially in the excitement of pre-wedding celebrations, but be firm with friends and family; you have a responsibility to look after yourself. Lack of sleep can also make many brides feel edgy, overwhelmed and prone to tearful outbursts - not a good idea on one of the most important days of your life!
Watch those stress levels
Keep your stress levels under control to ensure you don't arrive at the church looking exhausted and frazzled. The best way to do this is usually to be aware of your needs at this time and learn to say 'no'!
Weddings are often a time in your life where many people (most of them well-meaning) will want to offer advice and assistance. This can be more of a hindrance than a help as being the intelligent, professional woman that you are, you would have organized your wedding down to the last detail and have displayed your own style and personal tastes in the process. Whether it's an unexpected house-guest or your mother-in-law's plastic costume jewellery, you can be sure that you will have some sort of pressure inflicted on you at the last minute.
Be firm
Stand up for yourself and be firm in your wishes. This is your day and your needs need to be respected. Trying to please everybody only adds unnecessary stress to your life, and your wedding day should be a happy and relaxed event for you and your partner. If you have planned everything well in advance and allowed yourself some time to relax, you will be walking down that aisle feeling energized, in control and of course gorgeous!
